  6. Marshmallows. If your child is suffering from a sore throat, this is definitely an idea to consider. There is no scientific data that this is effective, but many people believe that the sap from marshmallows can treat sore throats, coughs, and the common cold.
  7. Chicken noodle soup. What your mom told you all those years is true. Eating a bowl of chicken noodle soup can help relieve the pain associated with a sore throat. Not only does it feel good going down, thanks to the temperature, but the sodium can act as an anti-inflammatory.
